As the Bourbon dynasts left Madrid early last week, a happy madness filled the city. From countless housetops fluttered the Republican flag—three horizontal stripes of red, purple, yellow. All day and all night delirious crowds paraded, cavorted, gyrated in the streets with red stockinet "liberty caps" on their heads.
