All English Liberals, of whom there used to be a great many, used to read the famed weekly Nation & Athenaeum. It reached its height of influence under the editorship of the late Henry William Massingham. After his death it declined steadily, despite the efforts of John Maynard Keynes and Arnold Rowntree who took it in hand.
