Last week the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced its prizes for 1929. The prizes were little gold statuettes, given out at a dinner in the Ambassador Hotel in Hollywood.

Acting (female): Mary Pickford, for Coquette (United Artists).

Acting (male): Warner Baxter, for In Old Arizona (Fox).

Directing: Frank Lloyd, for Weary River, The Divine Lady, Drag (First National).

Photography: Clyde de Vinna, for White Shadows in the South Seas (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer).

Art Directing: Cedric Gibbons, for The Bridge of San Luis Rey.

Writing: Hans Kraly, for The Patriot.

Production: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Corp., for The Broadway Melody....
