Because Basso Michael Bohnen wanted to return early to Germany to make a sound film, Manhattan's Metropolitan Opera Company imported on short notice another Wagnerian bass, introduced him last week in Götterdämmerung, concluding opera of the Ring cycle (TIME, Feb. 17).
