Jack Bernstein, who was born on the New York East Side, next door to
Benny Leonard, was awarded the junior lightweight championship of the
world after 15 furious rounds with Johnny Dundee at the New York
Velodrome. Dundee scored the only knockdown of the fight and was
indignant at the verdict. Popular opinion gave him only five rounds of the
fight, three even, seven to Bernstein.
