Work Done. The Senate of the U. S. last week:

¶ Adopted (69-5) a resolution amending its secrecy for executive sessions. C. Confirmed Ferry K. Heath as assistant Secretary of the Treasury; Arch Coleman as First Assistant Postmaster General; John W. Philp as Fourth Assistant Postmaster General.

¶ Debated a resolution creating a joint committee to study Prohibition administration.

¶ Adopted a resolution postponing the maturity of France's $400,000,000 debt to the U. S. for surplus war supplies from Aug. I, 1929 to May 1, 1930.

¶ Adjourned until Aug. 19.
