Twelve sets would be a long tennis match. Mrs. Charlotte Hosmer Chapin and Arnold W. Jones played the equivalent of twelve love sets (72 games) to defeat Mrs. William Endicott and George Lott in the finals for the Rhode Island State Championship. It was thought to be the longest tournament mixed doubles match on record. Scores: 18-20, 12-10, 7-5.
