Milestones: Self-made Golfers

Without benefit of bars, cigars, swimming pools, expensive caddies, grill rooms and fat greens fees there are masses of citizens who play good golf. Carl F. Kauffman, Pittsburgh, plays the best. Kauffman last week won the National Public Links Tournament, at the Ridgewood Club, Cleveland, defeating William Serrick, New York, in a match play. Kauffman lost the first three holes in the final, won them back and three more, lost the lead, and won on the 37th hole. His round was 77, the loser's 76.
