The Senate—

¶ Refused to ratify the Lausanne Treaty between the U. S. and Turkey (see below).

¶ Adopted, 48 to 33, Senator James A. Reed's resolution, which refuses a seat to Senator-designate Frank L. Smith of Illinois until further investigation.

¶ Laughed and grew restless while Senator Bruce filibustered and blocked consideration of 92 bills, including a few of his own. Senator Bruce was trying to force action on his favorite bill to settle the more-than-a-century-old French spoliation claims.
