Charles R. Forbes, former Director of the Veterans' Bureau, convicted (TIME, March 10, 1924, ARMY & NAVY) of conspiracy to defraud the Government in connection with the letting of contracts for hospitals, last week appeared to draw nearer to prison. He had been sentenced, with John W. Thompson, a contractor, to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The U. S.
