During the past week, Cuba was in the throes of a Presidential
election, which was not unaccompanied by violent scenes, bloodshed
and sudden death.
Latest results favored the Liberal candidate, General Gerado Machado,
who received 178,166 votes to the 122,009 polled by Conservative
Candidate General Mario G. Menocal.
