The special committee of the Senate, headed by Senator Borah, and delegated to examine (TIME, Oct. 3) the receipts and expenditures for and against candidates, sat divided. In Chicago, Senators Borah and Shipstead held hearings. In Washington, Senators Caraway and Bayard did likewise. The most important information elicited, however, had to do with the amounts received and expended by the several groups.
