At Worcester, Mass., U. S. Eastern golfers played to determine the 42 men eligible to compete in the National Open Championship. At Chicago, Westerners did ditto.

East. Clock! A white spheroid rolled lazily into the 18th hole with a dull clonk. It was the 71st stroke of Johnny Farrell (Quaker Ridge) and he topped the list of qualifiers with a score of 144, for the two rounds, being three strokes under Freddie McLeod (Washington).
