Government Operation?
Having twice refused to recommend Henry Ford's bid for Muscle Shoals to the Senate, the Committee on Agriculture reported Senator Norris' bill for Government operation.
The Norris Bill provides for a separation of the power-producing and nitrate —fertilizer—manufacturing facilities at the shoals. The former would be in the charge of the "Federal Power Corporation," created by the Government; the latter would be in the charge of the Department of Agriculture, which would also undertake to sell the fertilizer throughout the U. S.
The Ford supporters were not downhearted, however....
