The abysmal ignorance of the American press, often declaimed, is not without parallel abroad. Hugo Stinnes' paper, the Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, furnished the new President of the United States with attributes and personal history which are the private property of Professor Archibald Gary Coolidge of Harvard University, former holder of several diplomatic posts, author of The United States as a World Power, and other works.
