Just to show that they are still there, that they have not been sold, as so often reported, the Moscow Government led the Diplomatic Corps to the state vault in the Treasury to see the Romanov Crown Jewels.

There they were — crowns of gold and precious stones, sceptres of fabulous value, orbs of dazzling beauty, whatnots of immense worth. In all, the collection was said to be worth $50,000,000.

The Bolsheviki said that they intend to preserve the collection as evidence of the lavish extravagance of the Imperial regimes.
