CORRUPTION: Still Going

Last week in Federal Judge Julian W. Mack's Manhattan courtroom, continued the criminal trial of two members of the Harding Administration, onetime (1921-24) Attorney General Harry Micajah Daugherty and onetime (1921-25) Alien Property Custodian Thomas Woodnutt Miller (TIME, Sept. 13, 20). They are charged with defrauding the U. S. Government of their "unbiased and unprejudiced services" accepting part of a $441,000 melon as a reward for their speedy transfer of $7,000,000 worth of the American Metal Co.'s stock from the care of the Alien Property Custodian back to the original German owners...
