In Pittsfield, Mass., it is proposed to buy a house built many years ago by Thomas Gold, whose granddaughter married Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, who lived and wrote there during several summers, and an adjoining house, built in 1820, in which Oliver Wendell Holmes, Henry Ward Beecher and Fanny Kemble were frequent guests.
