Last week the French captured Suedia, capital of the Jebel Druse, and
relieved a French garrison, which had held in a state of seige by the
natives there for 66 days. Sultan Atrasch followed by thousands of
his tribesmen fled to the hills. In Paris there were rejoicings at
"the beginning of the end of French troubles in Syria."
