The coup de état which General Pangalos and Admiral Hadjikiriakos recently executed (TIME, July 6) was legalized when Parliament gave its confidence to the new government by 185 votes to 14, with 100 members abstaining.
Premier Pangalos came forward with a program of good government, restoration of finances, reforms of Greece's Army and Navy to the end that they "might rapidly be rendered worthy of respect in the eyes of her enemies and become a valuable, friend to her allies."
Parliament was then prorogued until Oct. 15. A new election is due in December,...
