Said the New York 'Evening Journal: "If Miss Goodhue elects St. Thomas's Church, she will pass through the 'bride door,' decorations for which were designed by her father, who cunningly concealed the dollar sign in a maze of Gothic carving, thereby arousing the indignation of many wealthy parishioners."
