Army (active) consisted of : Commissioned Officers 11,655 Warrant Officers 1,065 Enlisted Men 128,223 Total 140,943* Army Nurses 675 West Point Cadets 666 Contract Surgeons 30 Army Field Clerks 220 Quartermaster Field Clerks 167 Grand Total 142,701* The distribution of the Army was: Continental U.S. 104,286 Hawaii 13,096 Phillipines 11,808 Panama Canal Zone 8,880 China 977 Alaska 393 Europe (Graves Registration Service) 5 Military Attaches, etc. 187
