Bergonie

Died in Paris, Dr. Bergonie, radium expert of Bordeaux, killed by the effects of the insidious element he had used so adeptly to cure others. At the Bordeaux Clinique, of which he was Röntgenologist,— he had long carried on experiments with radium, in which he had consummate faith as a curative, studying its effect on gangrenous growths, on cancer. Continued exposure to radium rays caused a disintegration of the cells of his right arm, which had to be amputated. A cancerous infection had invaded his respiratory system....
