Mr. Coolidge's Week

¶The President went to the Capitol at 6:00 p. m. on the day Congress closed. He waited in the President's room, attended by the entire Cabinet except Messrs. Hoover and Davis, ready to consider and sign any last-minute bills that were passed. The Senate chose to filibuster and his visit was largely in vain, although he signed 77 bills. Promptly at 7:00 p. m., the he of closing, maintaining a profound silence, he hastened away to his waiting automobile.
