Rain in bucketfuls, wind in gusts, make a mighty tempestand such a
tempest hurried and scurried last week all over the face of France.
For days on end the rain poured down intermittently. Heavy damage to
shipping was caused, and fears were entertained at Paris that a
continuation of the deluge would bring a recurrence of the Seine floods
of last January (TIME, Jan. 7).
