AERONAUTICS: Wreckage

Fire blackened wreckage, a gasoline tank, pieces of rubberized cloth, is all that has appeared of the Dixmude (TIME, Jan. 7) on the surface of the water. Bitter controversy as to the cause of the tragedy has so far produced no enlightening facts. American and British airship projects are in no wise to be altered—experts in both countries claim that structural weakness of the Dixmude, hastily built in wartime, is to blame, that better ships are now being built.
