The nomination of Edward P. Farley to be Chairman of the Shipping Board (a post which he has held since last June by recess appointment from President Harding) did not find favor in the Senate. His nomination for the post was not confirmed before the Christmas recess.

Last week it was understood that

Mr. Farley had tendered his resignation to the President and that his nomination would be withdrawn.
