At Houston, Texas, R. E. Settle needed an automobile-driving marathon prize to go on his honeymoon. He had 13 competitors, but the last one, a woman, fainted away after 101 hours. Settle went about 1,800 miles in 101 hours, 10 minutes. Speed was no object.
