Foreign News: Chaotic Politics

The political situation is still in a state of confusion. The Presidency is unfilled, although Li Yuan-Hung continues to protest that he is President. The Government exists but does not function. The Tuchuns plot and prepare for war, which, it seems, cannot be long delayed.

It was announced from Peking that on August 15 Tsao Kun, Chihli Tuchun, will be elected President. The date is tentative.

Other Tuchuns are active. A meeting between a group of these almighty War Lords took place recently. They decided to protect foreign interests in case of trouble.
