The Press: Bryan vs Chi Tribune

The Chicago Tribune made fun of William Jennings Bryan's utterances on evolution. Thereupon Mr. Bryan wrote a 3,000-word letter to the Tribune saying that he had been treated unfairly. The Tribune published the letter in full. Mr. Bryan wrote that his opinion was the same as that of the Presbyterians and Southern Baptists—that if the Tribune made fun of his views, it was ridiculing Christianity.
