Jose Maria Garza, former Mexican Minister to Holland, wrote a letter to Alberto Pani, Foreign Secretary. Señor Pani thought the tone of this letter insulting to the dignity of the Mexican Foreign Office. He sent the letter to the civil court. This annoyed Señor Garza, who sent seconds to Pani with a challenge to a duel to the death. Pani's attitude is unknown.
