Wesleyan University (Middletown Conn.) awarded a varsity "W" to a
75-year-old athlete. The recipient of the honor was Dr. Stephen Henry
Olin, acting President of the University. Dr. Olin played on the Wesleyan
team which met Yale in what was said to be the first intercollegiate
baseball game. But varsity letters had not yet entered the college
athletic systems of 1865.
