LITHUANIA: No Thoroughfare

M. Kelimas, acting Foreign Minister, says that the Lithuanian Government will never cede Poland free navigation rights on the river Memel.

The river Memel flows from the North East of Poland through the South West of Lithuania and into the sea some 30 miles west of the town of Memel. In February the Lithuanians seized the town and the estuary, which was then under the administration of the League of Nations.
