The session of Northern Baptists at Atlantic City was calm. Dr. John Roach Straton was hissed, but that was soon forgotten. (He had fulminated against liberal Baptist college presidents such as Faunce of Brown and Burton of Chicago.)

The so-called " Fundamentalists," lacking a Bryan, fared badly, and protested against machine politics in the convention. Their fight will be carried on through a new-formed Bible Union which has flatly denounced Dr. Woelfkin of New York. Seventeen thousand baptisms by foreign missionaries in the last year were reported—a record.
