" En Famille "

Sheets of paper, pasted together, pumice-stoned and glazed, so as to resemble oilcloth, was the background on which the Japanese artist Tsugouhara Foujita painted his watercolor picture, entitled En Famille, which has made a sensation at the annual Paris United Salon. It represents an artist and his French wife seated at a table littered with brushes, colors, tobacco and cigarette papers, and is said to combine harmoniously the best traditions of Japanese and Oriental art.
