The Stock and Cotton Exchanges experienced a halt and recovery during the past week.

At first the stock market turned dull, daily sales declining beneath a million shares toward the week's close. The price movement in stocks was distinctly irregular, some issues holding their recent advances well under obvious short selling, while others declined. Much of the selling pressure on the stock market is believed to have been exerted by odd-lot investors, as a record volume of transactions by odd-lot houses is reported.
