In Kansas City, during a baseball game between the Kansas City All-Americans and the Kansas Feed team, a mad dog scampered on to the diamond, rushed at Catcher John Ruthledge who bowled it over with his mitt. The mad dog jumped up, made a dash for First Baseman William Burns. Before it reached him, Pitcher Garland Hodson took careful aim, wound up, threw a fast ball which struck the mad dog on the head, knocked it dead.
