Departing Anglican Bishop of the Goldfields Gerald Beaumont had two pieces of advice before handing over his 330,000-sq.-km diocese to Tom Wilmot in February this year: "cruise control and reading books." To these, Wilmot, 53, might add Shoo Roo, the device fitted to bush vehicles to scare away kangaroos with ultrasonic sounds. For an area stretching from Esperance on the Southern Ocean to Eneabba northwest of Perth and across to the South Australian border, he'll be needing Shoo Roo.
