Dr. Jiang Yanyong, who raised the curtain on official lies about the spread of SARS in China last year, has now written a letter about the June 4, 1989, massacre in Beijing that ended the Tiananmen democracy movement. In it, Jiang calls for a revision of the official account of the incident, which is that the Tiananmen protests constituted a "counterrevolutionary rebellion." The good doctor's courage is startling, but his project this year will meet with more resistance than last year's.
