The libation-loving French got sobering news about the consequences of drinking and driving. An appeals court in the eastern city of Nancy late last month upheld criminal charges against a couple who failed to prevent a drunken dinner guest from driving home — he killed himself and a family of four by heading down a nearby freeway in the wrong direction.
