DIED. ANNALENA TONELLI , 60, Italian aid worker who spent more than three decades helping sick Somalians; after being shot on the grounds of a 200-bed hospital that she founded; in Borama, Somalia. Tonelli was awarded the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees' top honor in April for her work combating tuberculosis, aids, malnutrition and female-genital mutilation.
