Jean Stapleton

Stapleton, in a 2010 interview for the Archive of American Television. Though she worked for half a century in theater, television and movies, her most memorable role by far was Edith Bunker, a Queens housewife married to bigoted, belligerent loading-dock worker Archie Bunker (Carroll O'Connor) in Norman Lear's groundbreaking 1970s sitcom All in the Family. Stapleton died May 31 at age 90.
