Who's next? that's the question tech insiders are buzzing about now that Yahoo has acquired Tumblr for $1.1 billion. The hip New York City--based blog network, launched by 26-year-old David Karp in 2007, is the latest in a long line of big-ticket buyouts of innovative start-ups by Silicon Valley giants. The hope, in this case, is that Tumblr's massive user base--it hosts more than 109 million blogs--will help broaden the Yahoo brand, especially among teens and 20-somethings.
