Hugo Chávez will be returning soon to Caracas after undergoing cancer surgery in Havana. It will not be an easy homecoming. Last year the Venezuelan President had two operations in Cuba to remove a baseball-size cancerous tumor from his pelvic-abdominal area; he subsequently underwent chemotherapy in both Havana and Caracas. He then simultaneously began to visibly gain weight and to campaign for the upcoming presidential election, due to be held in October, which if he were to win would allow him to remain in office until 2018 — giving him a 19-year spell as President.
