On the eponymous album Wild Flag, her new band--which includes '90s indie-rock princess Mary Timony and former Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss--uses staccato drums, hand claps, stomping beats and Brownstein's squealing vocals to create songs so energetic, you expect the band to start smashing their instruments any second. 9/13
