States offer an answer to the employment puzzle

    • North Dakota has the fastest-growing employment market. But Texas is the jobs leader--adding them four times as fast as any other state. The reason may be cheap housing, drawing people to the state and creating jobs. Home prices in both Texas and North Dakota are below the national average. New Jersey, an employment laggard, has some of the highest-priced homes in the country.
