    • Tom Bosley, a TV fixture as the paterfamilias on Happy Days, died Oct. 19 at 83. He was the kind of TV dad who made you feel as if he could be--in some way, as if he were--your dad. His Howard Cunningham could be gruff and cranky, but there was something inherently fatherly and comforting about that rich voice and rumpled dignity.
