The Taliban Pay the Price
Almost a month after the terror attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, U.S.-led forces launched military strikes on targets in Afghanistan. The raids were aimed at ending the operations of chief terror suspect Osama bin Laden, his al-Qaeda network and the Taliban regime sheltering them. The bombing by U.S. aircraft and British and American cruise missiles marked the first stage of what President Bush called a "sustained, comprehensive and relentless" campaign against terrorism.
