In the competition for cash in this election cycle, Democrats have trounced Republicans. That doesn't mean they simply have more fat-cat contributors. In this presidential campaign, their critical edge has come from those who give $200 or less--and so can give and give again without reaching contribution limits:
From January 2007 through February 2008, 41% of Obama's funds came from low-dollar donors.
She trails Obama in both the percentage of funds raised from and the total number of small-time contributors.
