Some time between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. last Tuesday, Jochen Wolf quietly slit both of his wrists in the prison cell he shared with three other men. Nearly four liters of blood — practically all a man has in him — leaked out of his veins and into his mattress, then onto the floor below, taking with it all awareness of pain.
